Battle Of The Bands - Fail In Duty through to the next round

Went down to the Brewery last night for the 5th Heat of Battle Of The Bands. The heat was between two very different groups 'Pepe' who are acoustic and very folk like and 'Last Paradigm' who like their heavy metal.

Both bands performed well although Last Paradigm is more my taste of music. The judges decision however was that Pepe go through to the next round.

We checked the scores at the end of the evening and so far Fail In Duty are the runners up with the highest score, this means that with only one round left and the two highest runners up qualifying Fail In Duty are through to the next round.

This is excellent news as Zac has now learnt the whole F.I.D. set and so the performance can be all original and should be an improvement on the first set and hopefully more points!!!

Good luck to Fail In Duty

Battle of the Bands

Form has been filled in and the envelope sealed & posted. Today Fail In Duty have entered the Beccles Carnival Battle Of the Bands. The competition is to be held at Beccles Middle School on May 10th with the winners being given the chance to perform live in front of the crowd at Beccles Common over Beccles Carnival weekend.

This would be a great chance for Fail In Duty to perform in front of a new audience and hopefully increase their fan base and contacts

fingers crossed !

Rasputins

After a last minute call F.I.D. were able to play an impromptu gig at Rasputins in Gt Yarmouth.

A nicely laid out place to play with a good area in which the bands can perform unfortunately there were few people there to see them as it appers they were 'on stage' too early. This is the type of place that stays open intil 3.00am and so does not begin to fill up until about midnight!!

Fail In Duty managed to perform an hour long set which was great practice for tonights gig at the Corton Hut in Lowestoft

Zac has now got to grips with many of the bands songs however we are yet to hear 'don't want to be a soldier' Hopefully this will be forthcomeing tonight when the complete set will be performed for the first time including some brand new material

Heat 1 - Jokari vs Fail In Duty

The first heat of the 2008 Battle of the Bands took place this Wednesday 2nd April between Jokari and Fail In Duty. Fail in Duty won the toss of the coin and Jokari played first. Their set of 9 original songs included crowd pleasers Pain and the Remedy, Inter Stella Pirates and Wicked Whisky.

After a short break Fail In Duty took the stage, showcasing their new singer of only two weeks who has already mastered several original tracks including the eponymous F.I.D. plus a number of classic cover versions as diverse as Breaking the Law to Blur Song 2. There was a short break in the set due to the fire alarm (not a usual part of FID’s instrumental line-up!) but the band kept calm and were praised by the judges for their professional reaction to it.
The judge’s task was not an easy one and both bands scored well with the final results being:

Jokari 118 Fail In Duty 114

Jokari will go forward to the next round.

Thanks to both bands, all the fans and especially to the judges who willingly donate their time to encourage new young talent in this town.

If you wish to read more about the competition then follow this link to the Battle Of The Bands Myspace page http://www.myspace.com/brewerytapbotb

Hopefully F.I.D.'s score will be high enough for them to proceed to the next round
